Before you read on, I want to make it clear that I am a big Adele fan! So the ignition to write this blog was fueled by my initial reaction to reading what Joan Rivers had to say about the super talented plus size singer! I don’t really want to discuss my own thoughts in too much detail on this as I am a true believer in humour and comedy is just that, something to make people laugh, but at what extent and at what price! So let’s start by looking at some of the ‘Rivers’ quotes on our curvy songstress! “What is her song? Rolling in the Deep? She should add fried chicken!” and ‘She was very scared because she sang at the awards,’ Rivers explained. ‘(She said) “My throat, my throat, I don’t know if I can swallow!” ‘I said, “Oh, yeah — you can swallow!”‘ and “Congratulations to Adele on the birth of her 68 pound 8 ounces bouncing baby boy.” So, if this is the first time you have read Joan’s quotes, then your initial reaction might have been to laugh, now you may be feeling guilty, don’t be! It’s a natural human reaction to hearing shock humour! You may still find this funny and have no guilt, this could mean that you find fat jokes funny, or you see through Joan Rivers attempts of raising her own awareness and realise that this is not a personal attack! Again my own take on this is not important, but let me leave you with some questions to ask yourself! 1) Can bullying under the name of humour/comedy have no exceptions? 2) Is the fact that Adele is a very successful rich human being be reason enough to be an open target for any comedian? 3) Who would you rather go and watch on stage performing Adele or Joan? Has anyone got any jokes about Joan Rivers for us?

Service or Product? After ordering my latest Emily clothing business cards from one of my regular print suppliers, who, may I add has both a great product and service, I asked myself, if I had to choose, which would be more important to me, service or the actual product? If a companies product is really good but their service really bad does this stop me purchasing from them? I for one believe it depends on the product and if I require much after care. I would have an issue buying a product such as hosting for my plus size clothing website from a company that has great hosting servers but would not supply the adequate support when and if it went down, this is when service is the main concern! However, if a company serving the best dim sum in town means having to deal with waiting in line and eventually having to deal with a little abruptness while being served, I think this small price is worth it, for such fantastic food. Flipping things however, I am more inclined to put up with a little less dim sum for a much more welcoming and better service in the nice Italian next door. When a product is a necessity to your business and the service is a big part of that product, then product and service must go hand in hand. There is no substitute for either. Here at Emily Clothing, all our wholesale plus-size products are of the highest quality and the service before and after the sale is always of the highest possible standard. We have built our entire business structure on this ethos and we have a loyal and happy client base to back this up. Dim sum anyone?

Should the big named stores be offering more Ladies Plus Size fashion garments to their customers? The answer is a clear yes. The plus size is, mind the pun, growing! So we believe that these stores are missing a (big) trick! The UK plus size market is increasing year in year out, with many shoppers having to look online for the best deals. Websites offering clothes for the larger lady are popping up online all the time. With the UK having the highest percentage recorded obese women, the competition for the best oversize, plus size keywords on google is very fierce. So why aren’t the big stores following suit? Do they know something we don’t, is the world all of a sudden going to have a shortage of food, forcing all larger ladies who don’t fit into the skinny super model cut out to lose weight? Well we for one hope not, as a world without sexy larger woman will be a much less beautiful place to live!
